Data Deletion Instructions
This page explains how you can delete your OndjangoBay account and the personal data associated with it, including the data we receive when you sign in with Facebook. You do not need to be signed in to read it.
Delete your account yourself
The fastest way is the Delete Account function in your account, under My account › Privacy & security › Delete my account:
- Sign in to your OndjangoBay account on the website.
- Open My account › Privacy & security.
- At the bottom of the page, choose "Delete my account".
- Choose one of the two options described below.
- Confirm your password, then enter the 6-digit verification code we send to the e-mail address of your account. The code is valid for 10 minutes and can be used once.
- Review what will be deleted and what will be kept, then confirm. You are signed out on all devices.
The two options
- Deactivate for 30 days, then delete — Your account becomes inactive immediately. For 30 days you can recover it simply by signing in; if you do not, it is permanently deleted automatically at the end of that period.
- Delete permanently now — Deletion starts immediately after you confirm and cannot be undone.
If you are not signed in, you will be asked to sign in first.
If you use Facebook to sign in
When you sign in with Facebook, we receive your name, your e-mail address, your profile photo and a technical identifier that links your Facebook login to your OndjangoBay account. Deleting your OndjangoBay account deletes this data too: the profile photo, the Facebook link and the identifier are removed, and your name and e-mail address are removed from the account.
An account created by signing in with Facebook has no password that you know, and the Delete Account function asks for one. First set a password with Forgot your password? using the e-mail address of your Facebook account, then follow the steps above. If this is not possible, write to us as explained below.
Remove OndjangoBay from your Facebook account
- On Facebook, open Settings & privacy › Settings.
- Open Apps and websites.
- Find OndjangoBay and select Remove.
Removing the app on Facebook stops Facebook from sharing data with us from then on, but it does not delete your OndjangoBay account or the data we already hold. To delete those, use the Delete Account function or contact us.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, e-mail address, phone number, date of birth, gender and profile photo. The account itself is anonymised.
- Your addresses, wishlist, cart, followed stores, search history and notifications.
- Your sign-in data: password, Facebook or Google sign-in link, devices, sessions, passkeys and verification codes.
- Identity documents, bank details and company registration details.
- Your marketing preferences and newsletter subscription. Marketing messages stop as soon as you make the request.
What is kept, and why
Some records must be kept to comply with the law or to resolve open matters. They are kept without your name and contact details:
- Orders, payments and invoices, because commercial, tax and accounting law requires it.
- Shipments, returns and disputes, to complete contracts and to establish or defend legal claims.
- Reviews you have written, attributed to "Deleted user".
- Support tickets, without your personal data (the text of your messages is removed).
- Security and audit records, to prevent fraud and to account for what happened to the account.
These records are kept only for the period required by applicable law, or for as long as needed to establish or defend legal claims, and are then deleted or anonymised.
When deletion happens
- "Delete permanently now": the deletion is carried out as soon as you confirm.
- "Deactivate for 30 days, then delete": the account is deleted automatically after 30 days, unless you sign in before then. You receive a confirmation e-mail with the date.
- If you still have open obligations (for example active orders, pending payments, returns or refunds, open disputes, a wallet balance, shipments in transit or, for sellers, orders to fulfil and pending payouts), you can no longer use the account (a seller keeps access only to what is needed to finish those orders, returns and disputes) and the deletion completes automatically as soon as they are finished. We e-mail you when the account has been deleted.
- In every case you are signed out on all devices and marketing messages stop immediately.
If you can no longer access your account
Send us a deletion request by e-mail to [email protected]. If you can, write from the e-mail address registered on your account. Please include:
- the subject "Account deletion request";
- the name and the e-mail address or phone number you used on OndjangoBay;
- whether you signed in with Facebook, Google or a password.
To protect you, we first check that you are the account holder and may ask you for more information. We then delete the account and its data as described on this page and confirm to you by e-mail.
You can also reach us through the contact page or the support chat on our website.
